A delicious and comforting dish of chicken smothered in a rich and creamy sauce, perfect for a satisfying meal.
Directions
Step 1
Season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Step 2
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 5-7 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
Step 3
In the same skillet, add the butter. Once melted, add the sliced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Step 4
Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Step 5
Sprinkle the flour over the onions and garlic, stirring constantly to create a roux. Cook for about 2 minutes.
Step 6
Slowly pour in the chicken broth, whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until it begins to thicken, about 3-5 minutes.
Step 7
Stir in the heavy cream and let the sauce simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
Step 8
Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning some of the sauce over the top. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer until the chicken is cooked through, about 15 minutes.
Step 9
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
