  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 60 g butter
  • 3 carrots
  • 3 celery
  • 1.5 kg chicken
  • 2 l chicken broth
  • 240 g flour
  • 240 ml milk
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions

Step 1
Place the chicken in a large pot and cover with chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
Step 2
Remove the chicken from the pot and let it cool. Once cooled, remove the meat from the bones and shred it into bite-sized pieces.
Step 3
Add the carrots, celery, and onion to the pot with the broth. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
Step 4
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk to form a dough.
Step 5
Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the simmering broth. Cover the pot and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through.
Step 6
Add the shredded chicken back to the pot and season with pepper. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes to heat through before serving.
