Ingredients

8 Servings
  • 30 grams butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 250 milliliters milk
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 500 grams stale bread

Directions

Step 1
Cut the stale bread into small cubes and place them in a large bowl.
Step 2
Heat the milk in a saucepan until warm, but not boiling. Pour the warm milk over the bread cubes and let it soak for about 10 minutes.
Step 3
In a pan, melt the butter and sauté the finely chopped onion until translucent. Add the onions to the bread mixture.
Step 4
Add the eggs, chopped parsley, salt, pepper, and nutmeg to the bread mixture. Mix everything together until well combined.
Step 5
Allow the mixture to rest for about 10 minutes. Then, with wet hands, form the mixture into 8-10 dumplings.
Step 6
Bring a large pot of salted water to a gentle simmer. Carefully add the dumplings to the water and cook for about 20 minutes, until they float to the top and are cooked through.
Step 7
Remove the dumplings from the water with a slotted spoon and serve hot.
