  • 6 chicken thighs
  • 5 g Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 10 g ginger
  • 60 ml hoisin sauce
  • 30 ml honey
  • 1 drop red food coloring
  • 15 ml sesame oil
  • 30 ml soy sauce

Directions

Step 1
In a bowl, mix hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, Chinese five-spice powder, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and red food coloring (if using).
Step 2
Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and ensure they are well-coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
Step 4
Place the marinated chicken thighs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
Step 5
Roast the chicken in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F).
Step 6
Baste the chicken with the remaining marinade halfway through the cooking time for extra flavor.
Step 7
Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
