Ingredients

  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 60 g butter
  • 3 carrots
  • 3 celery stalks
  • 1.5 kg chicken
  • 250 g flour
  • 240 ml milk
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tbsp parsley
  • 0.5 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 L water

Directions

Step 1
Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
Step 2
In a large pot, add the chicken and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes until the chicken is tender.
Step 3
Remove the chicken from the pot and let it cool. Once cooled, shred the meat and discard the bones.
Step 4
Add the carrots, celery, and onion to the pot. Simmer for 15 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
Step 5
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
Step 6
Add the milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined to form a dough.
Step 7
Return the shredded chicken to the pot, and then drop spoonfuls of dough into the simmering broth to form dumplings.
Step 8
Cover the pot and cook for an additional 15 minutes until the dumplings are cooked through.
Step 9
Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
