  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 250 g cheddar cheese
  • 450 g frozen fries
  • 450 g ground beef
  • 240 ml milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 thick-cut bread slices
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Spread the frozen fries on a baking sheet and bake according to package instructions until crispy.

While the fries are baking, form the ground beef into 4 patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until it forms a roux.

Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to stir until the mixture thickens. Add the shredded cheddar cheese and stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.

Toast the bread slices until golden brown.
