  • 8 g active dry yeast
  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 30 g butter
  • 250 ml milk
  • 5 g salt
  • 50 g sugar
  • 500 ml vegetable oil
  • 60 ml water

Directions

Step 1
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.

Heat milk and butter in a saucepan until the butter is melted. Let it cool slightly before adding it to the flour mixture.

Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and stir until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and divide it into small portions. Roll each portion into a thin oval shape.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 180°C (350°F).

Fry the dough pieces one at a time until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
