Ingredients

  • 8 slices bacon
  • 2 cup beef broth
  • 8 slices beef round steak
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 dill pickles
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 0.5 cup mustard
  • 2 onion
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1
Lay out the beef slices and spread mustard evenly over each slice.
Step 2
Place a slice of bacon, some chopped onion, and a pickle quarter on each beef slice.
Step 3
Roll up each slice tightly and secure with a toothpick or kitchen twine.
Step 4
In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat and brown the rouladen on all sides.
Step 5
Remove rouladen from the pot and set aside.
Step 6
Add remaining onions to the pot and sauté until golden brown.

Sprinkle flour over the onions and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.

Gradually add beef broth, stirring until the sauce thickens.
Step 9
Return rouladen to the pot, cover, and simmer on low heat for about 90 minutes or until the meat is tender.
Step 10
Season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve hot.
