Ingredients

  • 250 grams all-purpose flour
  • 10 grams baking powder
  • 150 grams chocolate chips
  • 1 egg
  • 50 grams granulated sugar
  • 120 ml heavy cream
  • 1 grams salt
  • 115 grams unsalted butter
  • 5 ml vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Step 3
Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and mix using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
Step 5
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
Step 6
Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
Step 7
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a circle about 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick.
Step 8
Cut the dough into 8 wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 9
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 10
Allow the scones to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
