This traditional Italian basil pesto, known as Pesto Genovese, is a vibrant and flavorful sauce made with fresh basil leaves, pine nuts, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and extra virgin olive oil. Perfect for pasta, sandwiches, or as a dip.

100 ml extra virgin olive oil

50 g fresh basil leaves

2 garlic cloves

50 g Parmesan cheese, grated

30 g pine nuts

Directions
Step 1
Wash and dry the fresh basil leaves thoroughly.
Step 2
In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, pine nuts, and garlic cloves. Pulse until finely chopped.
Step 3
Add the grated Parmesan cheese and pulse a few more times to combine.
Step 4
While the processor is running, gradually pour in the extra virgin olive oil until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Step 5
Season with salt to taste.
Step 6
Transfer the pesto to a jar or airtight container and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
