These delicious sauerkraut balls are a perfect appetizer for any occasion. They are crispy on the outside and filled with a tangy sauerkraut and meat mixture on the inside. Easy to make and sure to impress your guests!

  • 120 g all-purpose flour
  • 240 g bread crumbs
  • 115 g cream cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 500 g ground sausage
  • 60 ml milk
  • 250 g sauerkraut
  • 500 ml vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1
In a large skillet, cook the ground sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain and let cool.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, sauerkraut, and cream cheese. Mix until well blended.
Step 3
Shape the mixture into small balls and place on a baking sheet. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up.
Step 4
In a shallow dish, place the flour. In another shallow dish, beat the eggs with the milk. In a third shallow dish, place the bread crumbs.
Step 5
Roll each ball in the flour, then dip in the egg mixture, and finally roll in the bread crumbs until well coated.
Step 6
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 180°C. Fry the sauerkraut balls in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
Step 7
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
