  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 240 ml boiling water
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 grams flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 400 grams sugar
  • 75 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 120 ml vegetable oil
  • 240 ml whole milk

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
Step 2
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add the sugar, eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the bowl. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until well combined.
Step 4
Stir in the boiling water until the batter is well combined and smooth. The batter will be thin.
Step 5
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
Step 6
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 7
Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes.
