Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, raisins, sliced green olives, ground cumin, dried oregano, bay leaf, salt, and black pepper.

Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove the bay leaf and serve the picadillo hot, with rice or as desired.
