  • 1 bay leaf
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 3 carrots
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 ham bone
  • 2 onions
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2000 ml water
  • 450 g yellow split peas

Directions

Step 1
Rinse and drain the yellow split peas.
Step 2
In a large pot, combine the split peas, ham bone, onions, carrots, celery, garlic, bay leaf, and water.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.

Cover and cook for about 90 minutes, or until the peas are tender.

Remove the ham bone and bay leaf. If there is any meat on the bone, remove it and return the meat to the soup.
