In a large pot, boil the cubed potatoes until tender, about 10-15 minutes. Drain and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, sour cream, ranch seasoning, salt, and black pepper.

Fold in 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and chopped green onions.
