Ingredients

  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 50 g butter
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 500 g lamb or beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 pita bread
  • 200 g plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 100 ml water

Directions

Step 1
Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Step 2
Add the thinly sliced lamb or beef and cook until browned.
Step 3
Season the meat with salt and black pepper. Remove from pan and keep warm.
Step 4
In the same pan, melt the butter. Add the tomato paste and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Step 5
Add water to the pan, stirring to combine with the tomato paste. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 6
Toast the pita bread in a toaster or oven until crispy.
Step 7
Cut the pita bread into small pieces and place on serving plates.
Step 8
Top the pita bread with the cooked meat.
Step 9
Pour the tomato sauce over the meat and pita bread.
Step 10
Serve with a generous dollop of plain yogurt and garnish with minced garlic.
