Crispy Chicken Flautas are a delicious Mexican dish made by rolling savory chicken filling in tortillas and frying them to a golden crisp. These flautas are perfect as appetizers, snacks, or even a main dish. Serve them with your favorite salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for a delightful meal.
Directions
Step 1
Cook the chicken breasts in boiling water until fully cooked, about 15 minutes. Remove from water, let cool, and shred the chicken.
Step 2
In a pan, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
Step 3
Add the shredded chicken, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the pan. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes until the spices are well combined with the chicken.
Step 4
Warm the tortillas in the microwave or on a griddle until they are pliable.
Step 5
Place about 2 tablespoons of the chicken mixture on one side of each tortilla, then roll them up tightly.
Step 6
Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
Step 7
Once the oil is hot, carefully place the rolled tortillas (flautas) seam-side down in the oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Step 8
Remove the flautas from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Step 9
Serve the crispy chicken flautas with your favorite salsa, guacamole, or sour cream.
