Delicious Florentine cookies made with nuts and dried fruits, perfect for a sweet treat or gift.
Directions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2
In a medium saucepan, combine butter, sugar, honey, and heavy cream. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture comes to a boil. Allow to boil for 1-2 minutes.
Step 3
Remove from heat and stir in the sliced almonds, dried cranberries, candied orange peel, and all-purpose flour until well combined.
Step 4
Drop tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each portion slightly with the back of a spoon.
Step 5
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown around the edges.
Step 6
Allow the cookies to cool completely on the baking sheet.
Step 7
Once the cookies are cool, melt the dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl or over a double boiler.
Step 8
Spread a thin layer of melted chocolate on the flat side of each cookie. Let the chocolate set before serving or storing the cookies.
