Polvoron is a classic Filipino delicacy, a crumbly and sweet shortbread treat made from toasted flour, powdered milk, sugar, and butter. It's perfect for snacking or gifting!

Ingredients

  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 125 g butter
  • 50 g crushed nuts
  • 200 g granulated sugar
  • 150 g powdered milk

Directions

Step 1
In a large skillet over medium heat, toast the flour until it turns light brown, stirring constantly to avoid burning.
Step 2
Remove the toasted flour from the heat and let it cool.
Step 3
In a large mixing bowl, combine the toasted flour, powdered milk, and sugar.
Step 4
Pour in the melted butter and mix thoroughly until well combined.
Step 5
If using crushed nuts, add them to the mixture and stir well.
Step 6
Shape the mixture into small, round or oval molds. Press firmly to retain the shape.
Step 7
Remove from the molds and wrap each polvoron in cellophane or Japanese paper.
Step 8
Store in an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
