Ingredients

  • 400 g brown sugar
  • 115 g butter
  • 200 g granulated sugar
  • 180 ml milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 5 ml vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1
Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish and set aside.
Step 2
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, milk, and butter.
Step 3
Stir constantly until the mixture reaches a boil.
Step 4
Reduce heat to low and continue to simmer, stirring occasionally, until the mixture reaches the soft-ball stage (234-240°F or 112-115°C), about 30 minutes.
Step 5
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
Step 6
Beat the mixture until it thickens and loses its gloss.
Step 7
Pour into the prepared baking dish and let cool completely before cutting into squares.
