Learn to create a natural yeast starter from scratch without using commercial yeast. This process captures wild yeast from the environment to make your own bread starter.
Directions
Step 1
Mix 100g of whole wheat flour and 100ml of water in a jar. Stir until well combined.
Step 2
Cover the jar loosely with a lid or a cloth to allow airflow.
Step 3
Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 24 hours.
Step 4
After 24 hours, add another 100g of whole wheat flour and 100ml of water to the jar. Stir to combine.
Step 5
Repeat the feeding process (adding 100g of flour and 100ml of water) every 24 hours for 5-7 days. The mixture should start to bubble and rise.
Step 6
Once the starter is active and bubbly, it is ready to use in your bread recipes.
