Ingredients

  • 5 g baking soda
  • 5 g cinnamon
  • 2 g cloves
  • 2 egg
  • 500 g flour
  • 240 ml honey
  • 60 ml milk
  • 120 ml shortening
  • 200 g sugar

Directions

Step 1
In a large saucepan, combine honey, sugar, and shortening. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool.
Step 2
Beat in eggs and milk to the cooled mixture.
Step 3
In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves. Gradually add to the honey mixture, stirring until well blended.
Step 4
Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight.
Step 5
Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).
Step 6
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 0.5 cm (1/4 inch) thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
Step 7
Place cookies on greased baking sheets and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
Step 8
Allow cookies to cool on wire racks before serving.
