Finely chop the mushrooms and onions.

Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until translucent.

Add the mushrooms and garlic to the pan and cook until the mushrooms are tender and the moisture has evaporated.

In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher.
