Classic Chocolate Tart

Ingredients

  • 200 g all-purpose flour
  • 200 g dark chocolate
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 250 ml heavy cream
  • 50 g powdered sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 50 g sugar
  • 100 g unsalted butter

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Step 2
In a bowl, combine the flour and powdered sugar. Add the cold, diced butter and rub together with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Step 3
Add the egg yolk and mix until a dough forms. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Step 4
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and line a tart pan. Prick the base with a fork and bake for 15 minutes until golden. Allow to cool.
Step 5
In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to boil. Remove from heat and add the chopped dark chocolate, stirring until smooth.
Step 6
Add the sugar and a pinch of salt to the chocolate mixture, stirring until fully combined.
Step 7
Pour the chocolate filling into the baked tart shell and smooth the top with a spatula.
Step 8
Refrigerate the tart for at least 2 hours or until set. Serve chilled.
