Ingredients

  • 250 grams all-purpose flour
  • 10 grams baking powder
  • 120 grams butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 500 grams fresh cherries
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 5 ml vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
Step 2
Pit the cherries and set them aside.
Step 3
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 4
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 5
In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture and mix well.
Step 6
Fold in the fresh cherries gently.
Step 7
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.
Step 8
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Step 9
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
