  • 220 g brown sugar
  • 110 g chopped nuts
  • 40 saltine crackers
  • 340 g semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 226 g unsalted butter

Directions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
Step 2
Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 3
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a boil. Allow to boil for 3 to 5 minutes without stirring until it thickens and darkens in color.
Step 4
Pour the caramel mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading evenly to cover all the crackers.
Step 5
Bake in the preheated oven for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbly.
Step 6
Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot caramel. Let sit for a few minutes to allow the chocolate to melt.
Step 7
Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the caramel layer with a spatula. If using, sprinkle chopped nuts over the chocolate layer.
Step 8
Let the toffee cool completely, then break into pieces and serve.
