  • 125 ml bread crumbs
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 ml ground cinnamon
  • 1 ml ground cloves
  • 900 g ground pork
  • 250 ml milk
  • 1 onion
  • 3 ml pepper
  • 5 ml salt
  • 250 ml water

Directions

Step 1
In a large saucepan, combine the ground pork, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, ground cloves, and ground cinnamon.
Step 2
Add the milk and water, and bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
Step 3
Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Step 4
Stir in the bread crumbs and continue to cook for another 15 minutes, until the mixture is thick and the liquid is mostly absorbed.
Step 5
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Transfer the mixture to a food processor and pulse until smooth, if desired.
Step 6
Pack the cretons into small containers and refrigerate until firm. Serve chilled on toast or crackers.
