  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 450 g black beans
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1000 ml water

Directions

Step 1
Rinse the black beans thoroughly under cold water.
Step 2
In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Step 3
Add the chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper to the pot. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
Step 4
Stir in the cumin, salt, and black pepper.
Step 5
Add the black beans, bay leaf, and water to the pot. Bring to a boil.
Step 6
Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beans are tender.
Step 7
Remove the bay leaf and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm.
