Ingredients

  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 800 g crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 30 g fresh parsley
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 500 g Italian sausage
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 240 ml red wine
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 170 g tomato paste

Directions

Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Step 2
Add the minced garlic and chopped onion; sauté until the onion is translucent.
Step 3
Add the ground beef and Italian sausage; cook until browned.
Step 4
Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.
Step 5
Add the crushed tomatoes and red wine; stir to combine.
Step 6
Add sugar, salt, black pepper, dried basil, dried oregano, red pepper flakes, and bay leaves. Stir well.
Step 7
Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
Step 8
Remove the bay leaves before serving.
Step 9
Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve over pasta.
