Ingredients

4 Servings
  • 355 ml beer
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 whole chicken

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 2
In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and brown sugar to create a seasoning rub.
Step 3
Rinse the whole chicken under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
Step 4
Rub the seasoning mixture all over the chicken, ensuring it is well coated.
Step 5
Open the can of beer and drink or discard about half of it. Place the can on a stable surface and carefully sit the chicken upright over the can, inserting it into the cavity.
Step 6
If using a grill, place the chicken on the grill and cover. If using an oven, place the chicken on a baking sheet or in a roasting pan and place it in the oven.
Step 7
Cook the chicken for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the skin is crispy and golden brown.
Step 8
Carefully remove the chicken from the grill or oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before carving and serving.
