A delicious and hearty baked penne dish featuring Italian sausage, marinara sauce, and a blend of cheeses. Perfect for a family dinner or a gathering with friends.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 500 g Italian sausage
  • 700 ml marinara sauce
  • 200 g mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 100 g parmesan cheese
  • 450 g penne pasta
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
Step 2
Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 3
In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Step 5
Add the Italian sausage to the pan, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.
Step 6
Stir in the marinara sauce, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked penne pasta, sausage mixture, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
Step 8
Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and the grated parmesan cheese on top.
Step 9
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 10
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
