  • 480 g all-purpose flour
  • 10 ml anise extract
  • 5 ml anise extract (for icing)
  • 10 g baking powder
  • 120 g butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 60 ml milk
  • 30 ml milk (for icing)
  • 240 g powdered sugar
  • 2 g salt
  • 200 g sugar

Directions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 2
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Step 3
In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 4
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the milk and anise extract.
Step 5
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Roll the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
Step 7
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden.

Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack.

For the icing, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and anise extract until smooth.
Step 10
Dip the tops of the cooled cookies into the icing and allow to set.
