Puree the strawberries in a blender or food processor until smooth.

In a saucepan, combine the strawberry puree and granulated sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and reduces by half. This should take about 20 minutes. Let it cool completely.

In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.

Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating well after each addition. Continue to beat until light and fluffy.

Add the cooled strawberry mixture, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the butter mixture. Beat until fully combined and smooth.
