  • 120 milliliters balsamic vinegar
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 100 grams brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 red onions
  • 120 milliliters red wine
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Directions

Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Step 2
Add the sliced red onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they begin to caramelize, about 20 minutes.

Sprinkle the brown sugar over the onions and stir to coat.
Step 4
Pour in the balsamic vinegar and red wine, then add the sea salt and black pepper.
Step 5
Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and becomes jam-like, about 30-40 minutes.
Step 6
Remove from heat and let cool. Transfer to a jar and store in the refrigerator.
