Faworki, also known as Chrusciki, are light and crispy Polish pastries dusted with powdered sugar. They are typically enjoyed during the Carnival season and are loved for their delicate texture and sweet flavor.
Directions
Step 1
In a large bowl, combine the flour, egg yolks, sour cream, sugar, salt, and vodka. Mix until the dough comes together.
Step 2
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Step 3
Cover the dough with a kitchen towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Step 4
Roll out the dough as thinly as possible. Cut into strips about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide.
Step 5
Cut a small slit in the center of each strip and pull one end through the slit to form a twist.
Step 6
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F). Fry the dough twists in batches until golden and crispy, about 1-2 minutes per side.
Step 7
Remove the faworki with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Step 8
Once cool, dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
