Ingredients

  • 10 g active dry yeast
  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 ml olive oil
  • 10 g salt
  • 5 g sugar
  • 300 ml water

Directions

Step 1
In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, and sugar.

Add the water and olive oil, then mix until a dough forms.
Step 3
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
Step 4
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).

Divide the dough into two pieces and shape each one into a leaf-like form. Make slashes in the dough to create the leaf veins.
Step 7
Transfer the shaped dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Let the Fougasse cool slightly before serving.
