This Pho Ga soup is a traditional Vietnamese dish featuring aromatic broth, tender chicken, and fresh herbs. It's a comforting and flavorful meal that's perfect for any time of the year.
Directions
Step 1
Place the whole chicken in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
Step 2
Add the halved onions and sliced ginger to the pot. Simmer for about 1 hour, skimming any foam that rises to the surface.
Step 3
Remove the chicken from the pot and let it cool. Once cooled, shred the chicken meat and set aside. Discard the bones.
Step 4
Strain the broth to remove the onions and ginger. Return the clear broth to the pot.
Step 5
Season the broth with fish sauce, sugar, and salt. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
Step 6
Cook the rice noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Step 7
To serve, divide the cooked noodles among bowls. Top with shredded chicken and ladle the hot broth over the top.
Step 8
Garnish with bean sprouts, lime wedges, cilantro, green onions, and basil. Serve with hoisin sauce and sriracha on the side.
