Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides.

Transfer the beef to a slow cooker. Add the onions, garlic, tomato paste, red wine, canned tomatoes, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, allspice berries, red wine vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper.

Stir the mixture well to combine all the ingredients.

Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened.

Discard the bay leaves, cinnamon stick, and allspice berries before serving.
