Pandesal is a popular Filipino bread roll that is slightly sweet and perfect for breakfast or snacks. Soft on the inside with a slightly crusty exterior, these bread rolls are best enjoyed fresh from the oven with butter, cheese, or your favorite spread.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams all-purpose flour
  • 50 grams bread crumbs
  • 10 grams instant yeast
  • 125 ml milk
  • 5 grams salt
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 60 grams unsalted butter
  • 250 ml warm water

Directions

Step 1
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
Step 2
Add the warm water, milk, and melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
Step 3
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Step 4
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Step 5
Punch down the dough and divide it into 24 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.

Roll each ball in bread crumbs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 7
Cover the rolls with a damp cloth and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
Step 8
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are lightly golden brown.
Step 10
Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
