Potica is a traditional Slovenian pastry filled with a sweet walnut filling. This delicious treat is perfect for holidays and special occasions.

Warm the milk and dissolve the yeast in it. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.

Add the yeast mixture, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and knead into a smooth dough.

Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

While the dough is rising, prepare the walnut filling by grinding the walnuts and mixing them with honey and a bit of warm milk to make a spreadable paste.

Roll out the dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.

Spread the walnut filling evenly over the dough.

Roll the dough tightly into a log and place it into a greased baking pan.

Let the dough rise again for about 30 minutes.
