Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

In a large bowl, cream together butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until smooth.

Combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture.

Mix the 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon in a small bowl.

Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls and roll the balls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Place the cookies 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
