This easy oven-braised chicken thigh recipe is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. The chicken is cooked in a flavorful broth until tender and juicy.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 250 ml chicken broth
  • 8 chicken thighs
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp thyme

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 2
Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper on both sides.
Step 3
In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.

Add the chicken thighs, skin-side down, and sear for about 5 minutes until the skin is golden brown. Flip the thighs and sear the other side for an additional 5 minutes.

Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.

Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.

Pour in the chicken broth and add the dried thyme. Stir to combine.

Return the chicken thighs to the skillet, skin-side up.

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes, or until the chicken thighs are cooked through and tender.

Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
