A traditional Swedish mulled wine, perfect for warming up during the cold winter months.
Directions
Step 1
In a large pot, combine the red wine, port wine, and vodka.
Step 2
Add the sugar, whole cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, and orange peel to the pot.
Step 3
Heat the mixture over medium heat until it is hot but not boiling. Stir occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
Step 4
Once the mixture is hot, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
Step 5
Add the raisins and blanched almonds to the pot and continue to simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
Step 6
Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool slightly before serving. Strain out the spices and orange peel before serving.
Step 7
Serve the glögg warm in mugs, making sure to include some raisins and almonds in each serving.
