Ingredients

  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 1500 ml chicken broth
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 450 g ham
  • 1 onion
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 450 g split peas
  • 1 tsp thyme

Directions

Step 1
Set your Instant Pot to sauté mode and add a bit of oil.
Step 2
Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrots, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
Step 3
Add the diced ham and cook for another 2 minutes.
Step 4
Add the split peas, chicken broth, bay leaf, thyme, black pepper, and salt. Stir to combine.
Step 5
Secure the lid on the Instant Pot and set it to high pressure for 15 minutes.
Step 6
Once the cooking time is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then perform a quick release.
Step 7
Remove the bay leaf and stir the soup before serving.
