A fun and easy recipe to make your own rock candy at home using simple ingredients. Perfect for a science project or a sweet treat!
Directions
Step 1
In a large saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
Step 2
Gradually add the sugar, stirring constantly until it is completely dissolved.
Step 3
Once the sugar is dissolved, remove the pan from heat.
Step 4
If you are using food coloring and/or flavor extract, add them to the mixture now and stir well.
Step 5
Let the mixture cool for about 15 minutes.
Step 6
Carefully pour the sugar solution into glass jars or containers.
Step 7
Tie a piece of string around a pencil or a stick and place it on top of the jar so the string hangs down into the liquid without touching the sides.
Step 8
Leave the jars in a cool place undisturbed for a week to allow crystals to form.
Step 9
Once large crystals have formed, remove the rock candy from the jar and let it dry for a few minutes before enjoying.
