In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the chopped shallots and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until softened, about 3 minutes.

Pour in the white wine and bring to a boil.

Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, cover, and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened.

Remove the mussels with a slotted spoon and set aside, discarding any that remain closed.
