Step 1
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or line muffin tins.

In a large bowl, combine wheat bran and buttermilk. Let stand for 10 minutes.

In another bowl, pour boiling water over 0.5 cup of the bran and let stand.

In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar. Beat in eggs, molasses, and vanilla extract.

Stir in the wheat bran mixture and the boiled bran mixture.

In a separate bowl, whisk together whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
