A straightforward and delicious fried turkey recipe perfect for any gathering. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
Directions
Step 1
Ensure the turkey is completely thawed and dry, both inside and out. Remove any giblets and neck from the cavity.
Step 2
In a small bowl, mix together kosher salt, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder.
Step 3
Rub the spice mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin and inside the cavity. Let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Step 4
In a large pot or turkey fryer, heat peanut oil to 350°F (175°C).
Step 5
Carefully lower the turkey into the hot oil, ensuring it is fully submerged. Fry the turkey for about 3 to 4 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
Step 6
Carefully remove the turkey from the oil and let it drain on a wire rack or paper towels. Let it rest for 20 minutes before carving.
