Deliciously spiced and crispy, these oven-baked onion bhajis are a healthier take on the traditional deep-fried version. Perfect as an appetizer or snack, they are packed with flavor and easy to make.
Directions
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and grease a baking sheet with a little vegetable oil.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine the chickpea flour, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala, salt, and baking powder.
Step 3
Gradually add the water to the dry ingredients, stirring to form a smooth batter.
Step 4
Add the sliced onions to the batter, mixing well until all the onion slices are coated.
Step 5
Using your hands, form small balls or fritters with the onion mixture and place them on the greased baking sheet.
Step 6
Brush the tops of the bhajis with a little vegetable oil to help them crisp up while baking.
Step 7
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, turning them halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
Step 8
Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your oven-baked onion bhajis with your favorite chutney or dipping sauce.
