Step 1
Rinse the fermented black beans under cold water to remove excess salt.

In a bowl, combine the rinsed black beans, water, soy sauce, rice wine, and sugar. Mix well.

Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced ginger and garlic, and sauté until fragrant.

Add the black bean mixture to the pan and bring to a simmer.

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a bit of water to create a slurry. Add this to the pan and stir until the sauce thickens.

Remove from heat and stir in the sesame oil for added flavor.
